Usually High Roller tournaments get smaller fields due to larger buy-ins, and the $100k Super High Roller event at the 2012 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure was certainly no exception. This No Limit Hold’em event attracted just 30 people, so it was to be expected that the world’s best players were going to be found at the final table.
Players had access to an optional rebuy, but Jonathan Duhamel and Bill Perkins were the only players to take it for an additional $100k each. When Day 2 of the tournament started, Isaac Haxton was the chip leader, but he busted before the day was over. I have a feeling he used a PokerStars install on his laptop to keep himself busy after he busted. What do you think?
Just 7 players remained after Day 2 was complete, and Galen Hall was the chip leader. You might know Hall as the player…
Read MoreWith great sites such as Everest Poker and the Titan Poker download, PokerStars has had to roll out some great promos to stay on top of the online poker world. One of their best assets is the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA), their flagship tournament series that kicks off the European Poker Tour every year.
As the name implies, the PCA is hosted in the Caribbean, specifically on Paradise Island at the Atlantis. This is a dream come true for poker players living in cold climates for it gives them the chance to enjoy some better weather on a fun-filled poker trip. Paradise Island is famous thanks to Hollywood. In 2006, the James Bond movie Casino Royale was filmed there.
This year’s PCA started a few days ago on January 5th and will continue until January 14th. The Main Event started on the 7th, and players are currently in the…
Read MoreIf you recently used the PokerStars bonus code, you have probably noticed that there is a great selection of MTTs to play on PokerStars. It is arguably the best site for poker tournaments since they offer more events and bigger guarantees than any other room.
PokerStars is famous for running the Spring Championship of Online Poker and the World Championship of Online Poker every year. Many people felt that there was a void in the series schedule, however. While SCOOP and WCOOP already feature turbo events, many felt that a Turbo Championship of Online Poker would be a dream come true. As always, PokerStars listened to the feedback. They recently announced that the first TCOOP would take place from January 19th to January 29th.
Whether you enjoy short-handed tables, big antes, or knockouts, there will be something for you in TCOOP. There will also be plenty of variation when…
Read MoreWhile PokerStars has been one of the best Euro poker sites for a while, they have just started breaking into the Asian market. The Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) recently made a stop in Macau, one of the biggest poker cities in Asia.
The news was big early in the event as Phil Ivey was seen at one of the tables. This high profile pro hadn’t been seen in a live tournament since Black Friday, which was on April 15th of this year! Whether it was due to rust or just bad luck, Ivey didn’t go deep in the event. Perhaps he spent too much time with online casino gambling and not enough time with poker during his break?
A grand total of 575 players created a prize pool of 15,552,600 HKD after paying 30,000 HKD each to enter. This meant that first prize was 3,772,000 HKD, which…
Read MorePoker has grown in all corners of the world thanks to various tournament series generating plenty of interest for the game. An example of a series that has done this is the European Poker Tour, which was sponsored by the Poker Stars download. Greece held its first EPT event in Loutraki recently, and 336 players paid €4,400 to enter. This meant a 1st place prize of €347,000.
This event’s 8-handed final table’s first casualty was Mario Puccini, a German pro known to online players as Pokerccini. He pushed all-in with KQ suited, a hand which I was sure never loses. He ended up losing to A8 offsuit, however, which proved my theory wrong. He busted in 8th place.
If you are a fellow Craps online player, you might not be used to the following preflop betting I’m about to describe in a hand that ensued soon after Puccini’s…
Read MorePokerStars has their 10th anniversary rapidly approaching, and they are hosting a myriad of events and promos in celebration. They have a little something for everyone with bonuses, tournaments, and prizes. Today I will talk about a reload bonus and trip giveaways for the Bahamas.
The best part of the Anniversary Reload Bonus is the fact that it is accessible to almost everyone. When you reload, you get a 10% bonus up to $10, and you must clear it like any traditional bonus. The PokerStars download has made it easier than ever to clear, however. You just need to earn one VPP for every $1 of your bonus!
Have you always dreamed of going to the PCA? If the answer is yes, this is a great time to be on PokerStars because they are giving away 100 PCA prize packages! Each package is worth $15,000 and includes expense money,…
Read MorePokerStars is known as one of the best Euro poker sites thanks to the European Poker Tour. The 8th season of the EPT just finished in San Remo Italy.
847 players entered the event at €4,900 a pop which brought the total prize pool up to €3,734,694. It meant that the winner of the tourney would receive €680,000. When I think of how much Deal or No Deal online I could play with that money, I get very excited!!
Season 6 EPT Berlin winner Kevin Macphee was the short stack when the final table started, and Andrew Pateychuck was sitting on the 4th place stack. The final table bubble boy of the event was Johnny Lodden, a PokerStars Pro. His fellow PokerStars Pro Lex “Raszi” Veldhuis finished in 15th for €22,000.
Macphee caught a string of icy cold cards at the final table and folded his first 34…
Read MoreThere are few things more thrilling than discovering poker for the first time. Anyone with a good head for games will instantly want to play as much as they can. Online poker sites like Bono PokerStars offers them round the clock games and an account always ready to accept more money.
If you’re not careful, things can quickly spiral out of control. The history of the game is littered with players with well intentioned grinders who watch their bankroll quickly ebb away into nothing.
After grasping the fundamentals of the game, the next thing you need to master is bankroll management. The key is in knowing what stakes you should buy-into to keep you cash protected. Stepping outside of your comfort zone without good fiscal foundations is a one way ticket to disaster.
Russian player I7AXA had certainly mastered the skill element of the game. Last week, he took…
Read MorePokerStars has long been credited as one of the most exciting money poker sites available. Their team is always looking for new ways to spice up their promos and attract new players. Long time users of the site should be familiar with the World Cup of Poker.
The World Cup of Poker gives the average player a great chance to represent their country in a tournament versus other countries. Something that is exciting to many people is that this special event takes place during the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) in the Bahamas.
The World Cup of Poker gets its name from soccer, of course. The popular sport inspired the names of different positions that are on each country’s team. There were four open spots on each team, and to receive one, a player had to download PokerStars and win an online qualifier outright. The qualifiers ran on August…
Read MoreWith the World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) just around the corner, PokerStars has another great promo for you to enjoy: VIP Club Mega Month. The perks of Mega Month will give you a fantastic chance to get into some WCOOP events for free!
PokerStars has dubbed August VIP Club Mega Month because it means that you can achieve SilverStar (and up) by earning a mere tenth of the usual VIP Player Points (VPP) requirement. Known for having one of the best rewards programs of all the money poker sites, PokerStars has made it easy for players of all bankrolls to take advantage of the perks.
