Some people were surprised when he left Team PokerStars Pro, but Hachem voiced the desire to spend more time with his family. In previous years he was always on the road and traveling for poker, and he felt like it was time for a change. 6356095 Canada Inc., also known as Excapsa Software Inc., has just had a lawsuit filed against them in the US District Court in California. The plaintiffs are eight poker players that are accusing the company of violating the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, otherwise known as the RICO Act.

6356095 Canada Inc. has also been accused of defrauding players out of $20 million after a scandal that saw high stakes cash players swindled by players that could see their cards. The site has admitted to these problems and has repaid the stolen money to the affected players, but the plaintiffs are claiming that they lost way more money than was repaid.

The eight plaintiffs are attempting to get $1.73 million out of 6356095 Canada Inc., as well as extra compensation for potential punitive damage. Included among the plaintiffs are well known poker pros Dustin Woolf, Brad Booth, and Thomas Koral. Does the fact that they took the time to file this lawsuit mean that these players have not had much success on the best Euro poker sites since Black Friday?

While it is unknown how it will affect he lawsuit, currently 6356095 Canada Inc. is undergoing liquidation proceedings in Canada.

An outsider might argue against the necessity for such a lawsuit at this moment in time. Several PokerStars pros made the final table of the event: Duhamel, Humberto Brenes, Daniel Negreanu, and Viktor Blom. The other three pros to make the final table were Scott Seiver, Dan Shak, and Mike McDonald.

The tournament only paid 5 players, though. The bubble boys were Seiver, McDonald, and Brenes. Negreanu was the first player to bust in the money, eliminated in 5th place for $250,900. Duhamel was the next to go in 4th place for $313,600.

Hall hoped to win 7-figures for the second year in a row, but it wasn’t to be as he got coolered with 99 against Blom’s pocket aces. He had to settle for $470,400 and 3rd place. This left Shak as a chip underdog against Blom heads-up. Shak couldn’t mount a comeback, so he busted in 2nd place for a nice consolation prize of $846,700.

Congratulations to Blom for winning the Super High Roller for $1.25 million! This was especially sweet for him as it was his first ever major live tournament victory.

As the name implies, the PCA is hosted in the Caribbean, specifically on Paradise Island at the Atlantis. This year’s PCA started a few days ago on January 5th and will continue until January 14th. The Main Event started on the 7th, and players are currently in the money.

At a buy-in of $10,300, the Main Event was not the highest of the series. The $100,000 Super High Roller Event with Re-Entry already took place, and still to come is the $25,500 High Roller Event with Re-Entry.  Both of these tournaments feature No Limit Hold’em and 8-handed tables.

If you are not a high roller, don’t worry. There are a lot of events that are much easier on the bankroll for under $2,000, and you’ll have plenty of variety. If you are a woman, you can also play the $1,100 No Limit Hold’em Ladies Event.

PokerStars is famous for running the Spring Championship of Online Poker and the World Championship of Online Poker every year. Many people felt that there was a void in the series schedule, however. While SCOOP and WCOOP already feature turbo events, many felt that a Turbo Championship of Online Poker would be a dream come true. As always, PokerStars listened to the feedback. They recently announced that the first TCOOP would take place from January 19th to January 29th.

Whether you enjoy short-handed tables, big antes, or knockouts, there will be something for you in TCOOP. There will also be plenty of variation when it comes to turbo including 2x-turbo, 3x-turbo, and hyper turbo. If you’ve ever played online video poker, you’ll know that it’s pretty tough to find this much when it comes to selection!

If you have a small bankroll, don’t worry. Events start as low as $5.50, and there will be plenty of qualifiers available for the bigger buy-ins. Even though you might have to skip the $2.1k, the $700 Main Event should be easy enough to satellite into. The Main Event guarantees $1.5 million, which means at least $150,000 for first place!

Usually a big tournament series means a leaderboard, and it is unlikely that TCOOP will be the exception. Be on the lookout for the leaderboard announcement because the prizes are sure to be fantastic as always!

Many of the pros were very well known to the poker community. One of the chip leaders going into the final table was Soi Nguyen, a former November Niner. He has done quite well, having enjoyed several large cashes since making the Main Event final table in 2010.

Well known poker pro Antonio Esfandiari entered the final table hoping to add another title to his resume as he won the tournament back in 2010. Andrew Lichtenberger, who amassed his poker winnings on the best US poker sites, joined Esfandiari at the final table, as did female pro Vanessa Selbst. The only amateur at the final table was Vitor Coelho, and things didn’t look good for him as he was the shortest stack.

The last member of the final table was British poker pro James Dempsey. He was in Vegas as a favor to fellow pro Chris Moorman and hadn’t even planned on playing the event. It’s a good thing he played, though, because you will soon see that he was destined to run good!

Coelho’s short stack was a recipe for 6th place, but he got lucky and watched Esfandiari get 3-outered by Dempsey. After this successful ladder, Coelho tried to double up his 4bb stack with 88, but he could not win the 3-way pot and busted 5th.

4-handed was a very tough battle, and Lichtenberger was the first to succumb as he got coolered preflop with 88 versus Nguyen’s 99. Then during 3-handed play, Selbst got it all-in preflop with K9 versus A9 and couldn’t suck out. She settled for third place.

When the heads-up match began, the stacks were an incredible 100bb deep. It comes as no surprise that Nguyen and Dempsey battled each other for 80 hands over a two hour period with these stacks. Nguyen took a big chip lead at the start of the match, but Dempsey took it back near the end of the event.

In the final hand of the night, Dempsey managed to get it all-in preflop dominating and then was able to hold. Nguyen busted in 2nd place and Dempsey was the winner of the 2011 Five Diamond World Poker Classic!

Many people are quick to credit Martin Staszko’s runner up finish in the WSOP Main Event for the surge in entries for this event. In fact, it broke the record for the most entries ever in a WPT tournament in Europe! A €1.75 million prize pool was created after 571 players paid the €3,500 entry fee. The first place prize was an impressive €450k.

It didn’t take too long for the final table to become quite short handed. First Russell Carson, known as ‘rdcrsn’ in online poker rooms, lost a flip and was eliminated in 6th place. Then Sigurd Eskelund also lost a flip and was eliminated by Andrey Pateychuk in 5th place.

Four-handed play went on for a while. Finally Benjamin Pollak got his chips in the middle against Adria Balaguer, but he was behind. He couldn’t find a suck out and ended up busting in fourth place.

Pateychuk took advantage of three-handed play and really started to increase his chip stack. He gained chips steadily both before and after the dinner break in an aggressive manner. Then he sucked out on Stanislaw Kretz all-in preflop, which meant that Stanislaw Kretz had to settle for 3rd place.

Heads-up was pretty exciting. First Pateychuk lost a big pot with AK versus Balaguer’s J4s, which gave him the short stack. He got the chip lead back, though, by getting lucky with A6 versus AJ. Then he was lucky again with A5 against QQ. This meant that he was the winner of WPT Prague!

Pateychuk likely feels on top of the world right now, since he also recently won EPT San Remo. Also keep in mind that he just barely missed making the WSOP Main Event final table earlier this year in July! Talk about a hot streak.

If you aspire to win tournaments just like Pateychuk, you will need to build a bankroll and practice as much as possible. It’s best to build your bankroll online, and you should take advantage of poker bonuses. Whether it’s welcome bonuses or deposit bonuses, you can always use the extra money.

The news was big early in the event as Phil Ivey was seen at one of the tables. This high profile pro hadn’t been seen in a live tournament since Black Friday, which was on April 15th of this year! Whether it was due to rust or just bad luck, Ivey didn’t go deep in the event. Perhaps he spent too much time with online casino gambling and not enough time with poker during his break?

A grand total of 575 players created a prize pool of 15,552,600 HKD after paying 30,000 HKD each to enter. This meant that first prize was 3,772,000 HKD, which is equivalent to a little under half a million dollars in the U.S.

When the final table was formed, the big name remaining was that of Randy Lew. He came to the table with just 20bb, which meant he was the short stack. Quickly after the final table started, he got his chips in the middle with QQ. David Steicke made the easy call with AA.

It wasn’t Steicke’s day, however. A queen came on the flop, which severely crippled his stack. He was unable to recover and was the first elimination of the final table in 9th place.

Armed with a deeper stack, Lew used his experience and expertise to build his stack even more. His stack then received another considerable increase when he got dealt TT and beat A4 to bust Kai Yat Fam in 6th place.

Lew made it to heads-up with a slight chip lead over Jimmy Pan. He relinquished the chip lead to Pan at one point during the match, but then got it back by winning a flip. The final hand saw Lew win the match after flopping top two versus Pan’s top pair.

Congratulations to Lew for winning APPT Macau! Lew is well known for generating incredible amounts of PokerStars rakeback, but this win has proved that he is also a force to be reckoned with in live events, as well.

This event’s 8-handed final table’s first casualty was Mario Puccini, a German pro known to online players as Pokerccini. He pushed all-in with KQ suited, a hand which I was sure never loses. He ended up losing to A8 offsuit, however, which proved my theory wrong. He busted in 8th place.

If you are a fellow Craps online player, you might not be used to the following preflop betting I’m about to describe in a hand that ensued soon after Puccini’s bust. First Pierre Mothes raised, and he was reraised by Hauke Heseding (a 3-bet). And then Andras Kovacs reraised again (a 4-bet), this time all-in.

Mothes wasn’t happy to see all the reraises and was forced to fold, but Heseding made the call with QQ. Kovacs held AKs, which means that the two players were flipping. Heseding had quite the sweat by the turn as Kovacs had a flush draw and overs, but Kovacs whiffed. He had to settle for 6th place.

The fold Mothes made meant that he laddered a spot in the pay jumps, but that would be as far as he’d go. He thought he was good on a monotone board with two pair, but Zimnan Ziyard had him beat with a flush. Mothes didn’t fill up, which meant that he was sent to the rail in 5th place.

Florian Schleps was the next to go, as he made the unfortunate decision to flip with Heseding. Hesending’s run good could not be quelled, as he flopped more than one Queen with AQ and then even turned a boat. Schleps had to settle for fourth place.

Heseding decided that two final table eliminations just wasn’t enough for him. He called John Taramas’s shove with ATo and was pleased when Taramas flipped over 97s. Taramas’s cheering section called with a suck out, but nothing came and he was sent to the rail in 3rd place.

It seemed like Heseding just couldn’t be beat, but Ziyard had what it took to stop him in his tracks. After an exciting heads-up battle, Heseding finally made one bluff too many and Ziyard took all but 1bb of his stack. Heseding couldn’t come back and Ziyard was crowned EPT Loutraki champion!
