With great sites such as Everest Poker and the Titan Poker download, PokerStars has had to roll out some great promos to stay on top of the online poker world. One of their best assets is the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA), their flagship tournament series that kicks off the European Poker Tour every year.

As the name implies, the PCA is hosted in the Caribbean, specifically on Paradise Island at the Atlantis. This is a dream come true for poker players living in cold climates for it gives them the chance to enjoy some better weather on a fun-filled poker trip. Paradise Island is famous thanks to Hollywood. In 2006, the James Bond movie Casino Royale was filmed there.

This year’s PCA started a few days ago on January 5th and will continue until January 14th. The Main Event started on the 7th, and players are currently in the money.

At a buy-in of $10,300, the Main Event was not the highest of the series. The $100,000 Super High Roller Event with Re-Entry already took place, and still to come is the $25,500 High Roller Event with Re-Entry.  Both of these tournaments feature No Limit Hold’em and 8-handed tables.

If you are not a high roller, don’t worry. There are a lot of events that are much easier on the bankroll for under $2,000, and you’ll have plenty of variety. If you are a woman, you can also play the $1,100 No Limit Hold’em Ladies Event.

For the entire year in 2011, the PokerStars download had tons of satellites for the series. You could win your way in for as little as $1.10, or even qualify using FPPs. The low cost of the satellites meant that many amateur players could take a trip to Paradise Island.

If you missed the chance to qualify for the 2012 PCA, don’t fret too much. When the series is over, the site will start advertising for PCA 2013. Keep your eyes peeled for the announcements!
