Usually High Roller tournaments get smaller fields due to larger buy-ins, and the $100k Super High Roller event at the 2012 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure was certainly no exception. This No Limit Hold’em event attracted just 30 people, so it was to be expected that the world’s best players were going to be found at the final table.

Players had access to an optional rebuy, but Jonathan Duhamel and Bill Perkins were the only players to take it for an additional $100k each. When Day 2 of the tournament started, Isaac Haxton was the chip leader, but he busted before the day was over. I have a feeling he used a PokerStars install on his laptop to keep himself busy after he busted. What do you think?

Just 7 players remained after Day 2 was complete, and Galen Hall was the chip leader. You might know Hall as the player that won the PCA Main Event last year for $2.3 million. He beat an extremely good player in Chris Oliver, also down has “GettinDaize” online.

Several PokerStars pros made the final table of the event: Duhamel, Humberto Brenes, Daniel Negreanu, and Viktor Blom. Blom is better known as Isildur1 on PokerStars, and he is famous for playing in the biggest online casino USA heads-up poker games. The other three pros to make the final table were Scott Seiver, Dan Shak, and Mike McDonald.

The tournament only paid 5 players, though. The bubble boys were Seiver, McDonald, and Brenes. Negreanu was the first player to bust in the money, eliminated in 5th place for $250,900. Duhamel was the next to go in 4th place for $313,600.

Hall hoped to win 7-figures for the second year in a row, but it wasn’t to be as he got coolered with 99 against Blom’s pocket aces. He had to settle for $470,400 and 3rd place. This left Shak as a chip underdog against Blom heads-up. Shak couldn’t mount a comeback, so he busted in 2nd place for a nice consolation prize of $846,700.

Congratulations to Blom for winning the Super High Roller for $1.25 million! This was especially sweet for him as it was his first ever major live tournament victory.
